The Rescue by Jim Cymbala

First off, I highly recommend The Rescue.  It is a very easy, quick read.   I started reading and couldn’t put it down.

When I got the book, I thought it was just going to be about people being rescued from life or death situations.  It is so much more than that.  It is such a reminder that God’s timing is perfect, and He knows exactly what is going on in our lives.  I have been in a funk.  I really needed this book.  I think God knew the timing of me picking it up to read it for review.

The personal stories are so great to read.  Those also reminded me that I am not the only one going through a tough time.  We all go through them.  I was in tears by the end of the first story.  I will definitely pick up this book again when I feel like I am in the valleys of life.

For full disclosure, I received a free copy of this book from Handlebar Marketing to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Faithful Finance by Emily Stroud

Faithful Finance:  10 Secrets to Move from Fearful Insecurity to Confident Control is a good book to start building a financial foundation.  The Biblical principles throughout the book are great reminders of how God wants us to manage our money.  The book gives the reader advice on budgeting, savings, insurance, paying down debt, and retirement.  It is a fast and easy read.  Mrs. Stroud is very conversational in her writing style.   Her experiences from her career in financial planning are very insightful for real life applications.

As someone who has read numerous personal finance books, Faithful Finance did not give any me new insights.  However, it was a great reminder of concepts I’ve learned.  I would recommend this book to someone who wants to get started on a budget, paying off debt, and getting their finances in order.

For full disclosure I did receive a copy of this book from Handlebar Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
