monday, monday....

can't trust that day... definitely been a blue monday today. i have absolutely no reason to feel that way, i just do. sometimes i just wish i could make my mind shut up with the constant racing. i guess we all have days like this.

it's been rainy and dreary here today. it's gloomy, but at least all my plants got watered pretty good. i have blooms on my zuchinis. yay! no blooms yet on my topsy turvey tomato plants, but they're growing fast. i should take a picture of my "garden". i say "garden" cause it's a patch of ground i dug up on the back of our patio. it's pitiful looking, but it seems to be getting the job done. i've been spoiled all my life with fresh vegetables every summer. i used to get paid to string up the beans and tomato plants. i hated the smell of tomatos on my hands, now i love it. i can't wait to have a house so i can have a real garden. i get such pleasure from seeing something grow from seed. it gives me peace. hmmm... this post took a totally different turn. maybe i'll get out in my "garden" this evening and transplant my peppers. almanac says it's a good day to transplant!

mixtape time!!!

i held out on you last week, so i made a really good one this week. i'm gonna take you back...all the way back to.... 1994, the start of junior high. the beginning of my awkward grunge stage. before green day got political. before weezer was singing about beverly hills. some of the best times ever. as i made this, i remembered so many good songs. i know i forgot a bunch, so this might have to be an installment with a 1995 and 1996 editions also. there's a couple songs that were 93 and 95, but i had to include them. enjoy!

crafty little devil....

so last year i couldn't find my mama a corsage anywhere for mother's day. i guess this is kinda falling out of fashion. but this is the south and by goodness them ladies at my church are gonna have their corsages on mother's day. i felt really bad, i didn't want my mama to not have one cause she's the bestest mama in the whole world, so i took care of this problem early this year. i made her a lovely little corsage/brooch to wear. i got the instructions from this site. i'll have to post a pic of mine later. it's not as spiffy looking at this one, but hey, i'm not the professional crafter. i'll probably end up making some for my aunties too, shhh, don't tell them. :)

a few extra bucks... always nice....

so i've recently as in the past two weeks starting joining online survey sites. i love taking surveys. like seriously love when i get surveys. weird i know. but i was reading the couponing to disney blog, which i love, and one way she makes extra is doing surveys. so, i'm like hey, i love surveys and do them all the time, why not make a little cash from it. my favorite so far is opinion outpost. i cashed out for my first check this morning. $10.50 in a week doing a few surveys is not too shabby. i would highly recommend joining. i've emailed ppl about it, but no one has yet. i've joined a few others, so we'll see how those go. i was really hoping to get in on an online focus group this week, but no luck yet. there's really a whole world of this stuff out there.

i did it...

i finished my first 5k this morning in the pouring down rain. it sprinkled early into it, but the bottom dropped out about a half mile to go. but i wasn't stopping. the cops started announcing seek shelter, but i could see the finish line. i didn't do as well as i had hoped. i think i finished at 36.38 min. i couldn't even see the time clock good cause my face was so wet. i was carrying about 15 extra pounds in soaking wet shoes, socks, and clothes. haha. i was drenched. but it was really fun. ppl couldn't even write their names on the cards they handed out at the end cause everything was so wet. i don't know how they placed ppl. my card said 163, so i don't know if that means i was the 163rd person or what. the awards ceremony was at 10, but i didn't stay. i would have liked to, but i was soaked and starting to get really cold. so we headed on home. i didn't want to get sick again after my throat infection a couple weeks ago. oh well, hopefully i didn't miss anything important. so, i think i'll find another one to do in a couple months. it was a lot of fun even in the rain.
